Then one day you had a change of heart, a change of circumstances that made you think there was an alternative way to continue your career in HR?  So you thought working for yourself and setting up as an independent HR Consultant would be your utopia!  It takes courage together with a huge amount of self belief to fly solo!

Your reasons at the time would probably range from being disillusioned with corporate life, wanting more freedom to work the hours that suit you best, financial independence and above all continue to have that passion to make a real difference and contribution to people, organisations and communities by doing it your way!

Then as time goes on the reality sinks in and you realise you have to network, gain visibility, generate leads, market yourself and the business constantly, close deals, manage cash flow, do your books and pay your taxes and the list goes on.  Without proper planning and support you often end up doing interim work and may even experience dry spells without work.
